English language groups for kids 2 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
My family and I have recently moved back to Stockholm after a couple of years back in NZ. My kids (aged 5 and 3) are very much english speaking now, and while they will be going to the local preschool we would very much like to keep their English going. When we were in Wellington the Swedish society formed a group called Svenskkul that met every sunday for the kids to have some kind of formal tecahing in Swedish. Does anyone know of similar networks here in Stockholm, formal or informal. Great website by the way.

Hey Mark, We too have just moved to Stockholm from New Zealand. I have a 4 year old and a 7 month old. I'm swedish and my partner is from NZ, my 4 year old girl only speaks english and I was hoping to find some english speaking friends for her. I would love to join a group if there is one.. Otherwise it would be nice to catch up somewhere, sometime for our kids to have a play?

Hi Mark and Diana,

There is an English speaking playgroup called Hedgehogs. It is on Södermalm and held every Friday afternoon from 2pm - 5pm. It costs 30kr. I am sure they do not do any formal teaching of English but it may be worthwhile attending to see if any of the other parents are aware of the type of group you are looking for. It will be great for you little ones to meet friends anyway. www.hogalidhedgehogs.com/ I am not sure if it runs over the summer though????

Also there is another website called www.mumsinsweden.com/ This if for English speaking parents of any nationality. I used this site when I fell pregnant to help me navigate the all sorts of things in Sweden that I had no clue about when it came to children. I am sure a post on there will help you no end in both finding playmates for the kids and also English classes, formal or informal.

Hope this helps
