Hej,

I've recently moved to Stockholm and am currently staying with friends in Ostermalm.

Now work has been sorted I'm looking for a flat of my own or a place to share with a fun and fabulous professional room mate or two in central Stockholm.

Grateful for any ideas or recommendations. I've looked on the usual websites which have given me little inspiration so far.

Welcome to Stockholm

Flatting as we know it from New Zealand is not very common here in Stockholm, in is more likely that people have the own small apartments.

I am not sure which websites you have been using but there are some web services where you pay for them to find you a place, it not cheep but sometimes it has to be done ... otherwise its all about networking ,,. having people look out on your behalf... or having a Swedish other half with a 1st hand contract.

Id have to agree with Simon on this. Its all about networking. Tell everyone you know. Swedes dont flat like we do, however things are changing. I´ll keep my ear to the ground and let you know if I hear anything.

I am not sure how urgent you are but we are heading home in late October for 6 months and have a flat in a really old part of södermalm. so we will be looking at getting somebody to sublease it until we come back. we are more than likely to go through www.bostaddirekt.se but we would much rather rent to help another kiwi out than through that website.
