Sweden has good roads and an extensive network of air, rail and bus links. Most regions have a well-developed public transport system that makes it possible to travel by bus or train. In most large cities and in many smaller towns there are excellent public transport services. You can often get discounts by buying monthly passes on local or regional buses or trains.

Stockholm has introduced ‘Trängselavgifter’ (congestion charges) for road traffic. Otherwise the use of the Swedish road network is free of charge.
However, there is a charge for crossing between Denmark and Sweden via the Öresund Bridge and for the Svinesund Bridge between Sweden and Norway.

Many of Sweden’s towns and cities have rail links. Most trains are adapted for wheelchairs. There are both public and private bus networks.

Look out for possible discounts and combination tickets for trains/regional buses.

You need to take a boat or ferry to reach certain islands off the coast of Sweden
