Advice on starting up your own business can be provided by Tillväxtverket (The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth) and by IFS (Internationella företagarföreningen) (International Entrepreneur Association). There are also various interest organisations and industry organisations that you can contact. Most municipalities also provide a start-up service through the ‘näringslivskontor’ (trade and industry offices).

Grants from the Swedish Employment Service, ‘Stöd vid start av näringsverksamhet’ (start-up grants), may be provided to people who are entitled to unemployment benefit. The grants are only provided to people who are considered by the Swedish Employment Service to have good prospects for running a business and if the business can provide lasting employment.
