NEW ZEALAND GENERAL ELECTION: VOTING ARRANGEMENTS |

The Embassy will have a polling booth open for voting during normal business hours (0830-1700, weekdays) from 22 October through to 1600 hrs on Friday 7 November. Please note that Friday 31 October (All Saints Eve) will be an Embassy holiday, but should a visiting New Zealand citizen or resident be in town only on that day and wishes to vote they should call the duty officer on +4670 0419866 to arrange a time to vote. People will not be able to cast their vote at the Embassy during weekends.
Anyone interested in voting but not yet enrolled may still enrol. Enrolment forms are available online at www.elections.org.nz. Completed forms can be faxed or posted to the address given on the website.
Enrolled people can obtain their voting papers in three ways:
(a) Download voting papers from www.elections.org.nz. This can be done from 22 Oct. Completed voting papers can be either faxed or posted to New Zealand, or sent to the Embassy. For legal reasons voters will not be able to return voting papers electronically or vote by email. It should also be noted that if a voter is not on the published electoral roll (ie not already enrolled) s/he will be unable to download their voting papers.
(b) Request the Embassy to post voting papers to you. Voters intending to exercise this option must provide the Embassy with the following details: - Full name.
- Contact telephone and email address.
- The last New Zealand address where they resided continuously for at least one month.
- The name of the electorate they believe they are qualified to vote in.
- Whether they are enrolled in the General or Maori roll.
- The postal address the voting papers should be sent to.
Completed voting papers may be faxed or posted to New Zealand, or returned to the Embassy for on forwarding to New Zealand.
